Opening Ceremony started as an edgy NYC boutique best known for their unique assortment. Mixing coveted, renowned designers with a healthy dose of “I love it, who is it?” Opening Ceremony’s collection is inspired by the inclusive, international spirit of the Olympics. Owners Carol Lim and Humberto Leon make it a point to globe hop in search of talented designers that would otherwise go unnoticed stateside. They choose a country to feature for the year, travel there and pick local designers that appeal to their taste and sense of style, fancying uniqueness above all else. This fondness for imaginative design is tangible in their private label too, also named Opening Ceremony, which features basics with unexpected twists and innovative detailing.
