Mischen's purple Novack Cocktail Dress is our retro chic pick for evening drinks. The fun print on this 100% silk sheath dress at a distance makes us think of flapper fringe! If you were at our fashion show on Friday, you saw Bettie Cao strut this purple frock down the runway to lots of oohs and ahs. It was definitely a crowd favorite!

The chiffon over jersey knit Irina Dress (comes in Poppy too!) is rockstar sexy, and the menswear inspired combo Elizabeth IV Blazer (just sold out!), Eliza Vest and Eliot Pant is just as red carpet worthy!

Something's graphic prints and patterns have an indie gallery feel to them. Aussie designer Natalie Wood likes to tell a story but keeps it easy to wear and accessible (most of it under $100!). Something hits the major trends but does so with a quirky edge. Glam it up in the Shiny Tee Dress, or lighten up boyfriend grunge with the Flanno Shirt Dress in a fun and vibrant green check plaid!

It's September, get your layers out! The most important layer is the one that touches your skin, the one you feel all day. Plush is our pick, and you really have to touch these James Perse cashmere sweaters to believe how buttery soft the handfeel is. The Cashmere Turtleneck Sweater is the go-to basic with denim, and the Funnel Neck Cardigan with waist tie belt is everyday versatile and great with leggings or denim!

If you're shopping for a sharply tailored, stylish suit with a little edge, you're looking at a lot of fashiony slim cuts. That's just been the trend lately. Slim suiting really does add a cool, edgy factor to all that buttoned-up spiffiness, but what about the guy looking for the regular guy fit? That guy that wants sharp but not stuffy, wants cool but can't wiggle his athletic frame into slim, or just plain doesn't like the skinny dude profile? Theory's Holbrook Blazer and Holbrook Pants satisfy your sartorial checklist in a regular guy fit that's cool and dandy!

Summer is finished, but the flirty frock isn't! Brazilian brand Maria Bonita Extra is youthful, energetic, and well known for original prints and creative silhouettes. For fall, the print dresses exit the art gallery and head back to school in all out girly girl! The Printed Bow Dress is adorable with playful volume. One shoulder dresses are it for fall, and both the Shoulder Bow Dress and the One Shoulder Dress are sexy and sweet.

You Must Create, as in you must create your own design style. YMC is a London brand started by Fraser Moss and Jimmy Collins, and their philosophy is functional, smart and distinctive pieces that become more personal over time. What that means is simply, everything is easy to wear, you'll wear it a lot, and it will last because it's not disposable. Fans of brands like A.P.C. will appreciate YMC's approach and aesthetic. Moss and Collins hit on some key trends for fall.

A tough girl jacket in something other than leather, sweet! The lightweight Nylon Biker Jacket is so slick, with more than enough attitude to rock out whatever you wear under it!

The red and grey pullover Gingham Check Shirt in superfine corduroy is one of the coolest plaids for fall! You might have seen this shirt in men's, but the women's version is different—it's a pullover that flares out slightly just below the front button placket.

The Blueberry Knit Cardigan is a must-have addition to your conservative sexy, librarian chic collection. If you haven't grabbed a shrunken cardigan yet, this nubby number is the one! The texture pattern makes it stand out even in neutral black.

Boyfriend sweaters are really hot right now, and this Merino Button Cardigan looks the part but isn't overly slouchy. The double-breasted buttons are a cool touch!

Mind the gap! Sometimes jeans that fit great in the seat will gape at the waistband, so annoying! Even a nice belt can't hide the fact that you're cinching way more than you should have to. J Brand Blue Label is designed to fix the proportion weirdness with cuts that focus on better hip suppression and waistband contouring. The first pair we've received is the stretch Scarlett 14" Lowrise Cigarette Jeans, and as you can see, J Brand Blue Label has closed the gap for the curvy set!

Known for handmade Italian leather belts, handbags and separates, Malibu-based Anouk Krueger decided to give boots a try. Which makes sense, considering she learned how to work with leather by making horse saddles. This fall is Anouk's first boot collection, and it looks like the former documentary filmmaker took these dramatic styles directly off studio sets. The Alexa Leather Polo Boot in Black is what'd you'd wear if you had to give up your motorcycle for a horse. The supersoft pebbled leather and brass buckles are a tough girl chic must-have! The Oakley Boot in Desert (coming next week, stay tuned!) is a nice contrast, with rustic country charm that goes great with dresses, skirts and denim.

Black pants are back! Did they ever really go away? Well, yes, when designer denim overthrew them as the going-out staple. Paige Black Label, from the makers of Paige Premium Denim, leads the revival with must-haves in luxe fabrics, interesting details, and the same amazing fit that Paige Adams-Geller made famous in denim. Paige Black Label channels Audrey Hepburn having coffee with Joan Jett.

The Los Feliz Pant is our pick. We're loving the edgier zipper pockets on the supersexy skinny with curve friendly stretch.

In the September issue of The Block, designer Carla Knapp (New York via Manitoba) describes her Mischen line: "Fall was really about inheriting your Parisian grandma's closet. Our colour palette was very French and fanciful." Mischen is German for "to mix," and the vibe for fall stirs vintage and modern. Mischen's retro polish infuses classic cues from from the '20s through the '50s into contemporary silhouettes. Before starting Mischen, Knapp designed for Liz Claiborne and Jill Stuart before becoming creative director at Paper Denim and Cloth.

Our pick is the Pleated Front Top because simply, it really does look like something you'd snag from your style-maven grandma's closet! The print feels authentic. Vintage perfection! And while we're raiding granny's closet, we'll take the Silk Cardigan too, thanks grandma!

Mike and Chris' rockstar jacket for fall is the cropped Quintus Leather Jacket. Shorter is sexier! When we first spotted the Quintus, we experienced a moment of clarity. Jersey T-shirt dress (Riller and Fount), boots, done! So simple, so smoking hot! The Quintus comes in a rich Teal too!

Mike and Chris spoils us with every season with must-have leather jackets, but that's not all they do. Each collection brings more variety. This fall includes a versatile peacoat (Leroy Jacket) and a trench (Raleigh Trench Coat) for when it gets wet, windy and cold.

And, it's rare that we get excited about a nylon pullover, but the Lexington Nylon Pullover is slicker than most. The fleece liner collar is a great idea. You can keep your neck toasty and sport a layered look without actually committing to more bulk underneath. Mike and Chris functionality!

Is it me or does the Coven Color Block Dress look like it's on fire? So hot! We expect nothing less from Brazilian designer Liliane Rebehy Queiroz. If you caught her entry in our From the Designer section regarding her summer getaway, you know she's a very bohemian spirit in tune with all the senses. Coven really shows its colors this fall, featuring easy to wear silhouettes with vibrant prints in color block stripes and plaid.
