Shipley & Halmos: Tobi stylist for the day!
 esigners and friends Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos create flattering and comfortable pieces that are fashionable without relying on the latest trends, though that’s not the only reason we loved hanging out with these guys! So laid back we could’ve sworn they were from California; we had tons of fun watching them style the shoot and chatting about fashion and style. |
Shipley & Halmos Spring 2009 Ready-to-wear Runway (Style.com)
 says Jeff, and the evidence is in the carefully constructed garments of their successful line now in its fifth season. The men’s dress shirts are a great example of how the fit makes the piece. Jeff explained that with variables such as shoulder widths it’s hard to get that slim yet not too slim fit that looks equally sharp on thinner and more regular-sized guys alike. Likewise, their women’s dresses are not made for the flashy dresser; rather, the aim is a classic silhouette that still shows some leg. We think they’ve nailed it! |
| These guys practice what they preach and showed up looking ready for their close-up! We had to ask where we could get Sam’s amazing grey suede Chelsea boots he was wearing, and should have known they were an exclusive Generic Man made for the Shipley & Halmos Fall 2009 runway show. We still want a pair! |
| After we told the guys about our 1-to-1 shopping experience, they had to give it a try! Their query: “I’m looking for something with a bit of US Navy mixed with spaceage, as if Captain Kirk were to be the star of Master and Commander…maybe a mix of Balenciaga and Army surplus, ya?” was rejected as a prank IM by our Stylists, but they were still psyched to have the option to get styling and shopping advice from a Tobi Stylist. Nice try Sam & Jeff but April Fools Day was last month! |

| With balloons, vintage cameras and animal masks the shoot had the feel of a day at the fair, and we kept the party going later with dinner at Puerto Allegre in the Mission District of San Francisco. We had a great time guys, you’re welcome back at Tobi anytime! |
