about the designer
Don’t cry for us, Argentina—unless they’re tears of joy. Helena de Natalio has made us elated, carrying its fine Argentine leather on our arms.
Handbag designer Helen Hoppock founded her line in 2005 after joining the Peace Corps in 2003 and moving to Natalio, Paraguay. From there she traveled extensively through South America, inspired by its beauty and enchanted by its luxe leathers. She came across buttery Dakota leather and teamed with local artisans to create remarkable pieces of the utmost quality. Helena de Natalio ensures fair labor practices at her factory and donates a percentage of profits to Argentinean non-profit Ashoka. Clearly, there’s no need for tears of sorrow.
With signature tassels, hidden mirrors, and key chains, Helena de Natalio handbags are stylish and functional. Understated design yields superversatile bags, and this season’s slouchy structure feels as fabulous as it looks. We’re getting misty just thinking about it.
