For footwear with a globally chic sensibility, we slip our tootsies into Chie Mihara. This Japanese designer from Brazil found her roots and inspiration when studying fashion design at Kyushyu Design Gakkuin in Japan. She later studied accessories design at FIT in New York City, then interned at orthopedic shoe shop Eneslow and built knowledge on marrying function with fashion. After designing for Sam & Libby and Charles Jourdan in Spain, she launched her eponymous shoe collection that incorporates superior design and wearable comfort. Her trend-proof shoes are still somehow of-the-moment. We’re partial to the chunky, gladiator-inspired Bangkok Heels for summer. They’re just so international.
